PhD in Law (Doctor Europeus). Doctoral thesis: “Los discursos de las sentencias sobre el tráfico ilícito de drogas (Audiencia Provincial de San Sebastián, década de los años ochenta)”.• MA in Legal Sociology• MA in Criminology For the past 10 years, he has been Research Lecturer at the Basque Institute of Criminology (IVAC/KREI). He is currently a Research Fellow at IVAC/KREI. He has conducted over twenty research studies - mainly from a social, legal and criminological perspective - related to the social phenomenon of drugs. He has written over fifty books, book chapters and journal articles. He is a member of the “GICCAS Criminology Research Group” Research Group of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). In the last two decades, he has organised various meetings (workshops, symposiums, conferences, seminars, etc.) related to the social phenomenon of drugs, both nationally and internationally.He has taught courses on the BA in Criminology, UPV/EHU, and on the Master’s in Drug Dependencies and Other Addictions, University of Deusto (Guest lecturer).He is Scientific Director of the Ombudsman’s (Ararteko) Forum for Citizen Reflection and Participation: “Cannabis: Usos, seguridad jurídica y políticas”, organised by the Ararteko and held on 26 October 2011,Carlos Santamaría Centre (San Sebastian campus, UPV/EHU).Member of the “Technical Committee for Legal and Prison Affairs” and the “Legal and Technical Committee” of the Advisory Board on Drug Dependencies, Basque Government. He has taken part in various Plenary Sessions of the Basque Government’s Advisory Board on Drug Dependencies as an expert on drug addictions. He is a member of the board of directors of the IVAC/KREI.
