In this degree you will achieve a mastery of physical activity-sports programmes, while also gaining insight into the psychological, technical, sociological, tactical, organisational aspects, etc. A BA in Physical Activity and Sports Science is an expert in:
- Promoting physical activity as a healthy habit.
- Achieving good group dynamics, caring for participants' individual needs in different situations.
- Making the most of participants' abilities, both physical-motor skills as well as mental.
- Designing, developing, leading and assessing training, projects and programmes focusing on physical activity and sports.
- Searching and proposing solutions to improve sports performance.
- Mastery of fair play in all types of sports, through knowledge of theory and practice to avoid injuries and other problems.
- Competence in teaching Physical Education.

To make a decision on candidates’ admission, the Admission Committee will take into account the following criteria:
- Full academic transcript
- Admission test results
- Medical certificate
- The sports merits that complete the profile for the degree programme.
The subjects in the 4th yr. ESO that will be taken into account to calculate the weighted average mark are as follows: Mathematics, Social Sciences, Geography and History and Spanish Language and Literature.
To calculate the joint average mark of 1st year Baccalaureate, six subjects are considered:
· Philosophy and Citizenship
· Sciences for the Contemporary World
· The subjects taken by students.
· Elective subject
As not all schools include the Language and Literature (Spanish, English or Basque) subject in the curriculum in 1st year Baccalaureate, these subjects will not be used to calculate the average mark, although they will be considered to decide on admission.
To calculate the averages of your marks for the subjects in the 4th yr. ESO and 1st yr. Baccalaureate, two average marks will be obtained, one for each academic year and then, the arithmetic mean will be used.
As the situation with regard to the 2nd yr. Baccalaureate varies depending on the time of application, the marks obtained in this academic year will not be included to calculate the general average mark. These will be assessed along with other merits in the selection process for each degree.
Although the academic transcript is important for the selection process, all the candidates sitting the entry tests can also be admitted.
If needed, the Admission Committee will reserve the right to call candidates for a personal interview or require additional supporting documents.
Students can choose between Basque and Spanish as the language of instruction. In both cases, students can study some subjects in English. Students selecting the Basque group will earn the necessary credits for a C1 level certification*.
University sports facilities
Deusto has new facilities, which have been especially designed for use in this degree programme. The UD also has agreements with city and private sports centres to ensure that students learn the fundamentals of sports activities in situ.
Deusto students receive personal guidance and assistance throughout the degree programme thanks to the Tutorial Plan, which focuses on addressing the most important aspects in each year of study. For instance, there is a specific action plan in place to help first-year students adapt to university life. In the fourth year of study, the tutorials centre on job prospects and entering the job market.
Students have the support of a personal tutor throughout their studies. The tutor is the person to turn to when there is any type of problem or question (about studies, personal matters that affect academic performance, new ideas for improvement, etc.).
A practical dynamic methodology
One of the University’s key objectives is that students learn by doing. Therefore, the Deusto Education Model ensures that the learning process is student-centred.

|2. Reflective observation||Once the previous background has been explored, it is essential to reflect and examine these ideas.|
|3. Conceptualisation||We compare our previous knowledge with written theory on the subject.|
|4. Active learning||Learning does not only involve understanding theory but putting it into practice. This is attained through activities, exercises, internships, projects and/or research which affords each student the opportunity to use different abilities.|
|5. Assessment||Lastly, the assessment process comprises reflection on what the student has learned and evaluation of the work completed.|
If students have fulfilled the language and academic requirements, they can opt to study at a university for one or two semesters. In second year, students receive information on these requirements and how to request a place on the programme.
