Neuropsychology is a science applied to the study of brain-behaviour relationships. The practice of Clinical Neuropsychology requires pursuing a specific postgraduate technical training course and a supervised internship of excellence. Clinical Neuropsychology has undergone such a great development in Spain that there is an increasing demand of professionals in this field.
The University of Deusto has demonstrated its commitment to training experts in Neuropsychology since the early 1990s. In 1999 the Bachelor’s degree in Psychology introduced a specialist pathway with 9 subjects directly related to this field, which has become one of the specialist pathways most demanded by students. On the other hand, the programme of the Master's degree in Mental Health and Psychological Therapies also offered the possibility of taking a specific pathway in Neuropsychology taught by leading specialists in the field. Between the 2010/11 and 2014/15 academic years, the University of Deusto offered specific training in the Neuropsychology field through the Expert Diploma in Neuropsychology.
The University of Deusto has delivered this Master’s in Clinical Neuropsychology since the 2015/16 academic year (once it obtained the curriculum verification from the Council of Universities and a previous positive report from the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation. It was also declared official by Agreement of the Council of Ministers of 17 April, 2015, published by Resolution of the Secretary of State for Universities of 22, in the Spanish Official Gazette (BOE) of 7 May).
In addition, it is possible to pursue the Master’s in Clinical Neuropsychology in one academic year, or to undertake a joint official degree programme and study this Master’s degree simultaneously with the Master’s in General Health Psychology and gain two degrees in two years.
